To ensure 100% children attend and complete school education, we have facilitating Child Sponsorship project.
Poverty has been preventing Nepali children in gaining access to education. In rural areas, children cannot afford to go to school and end up working in farms. And those who are able to attend primary school, many times end up dropping out before 10th grade due to financial burden. Without education, life skills and awareness they are unable to uplift their living standards, always doomed in poverty. Social structure and gender biases is yet another hindrance for a girl child. In Nepal, the literacy rate for a female child is lower and the dropout rate is higher in comparison to a male child.
Project Goal
To support school education for the children of poor and marginalised families by enrolling them into school education through child sponsorship project. By 2030, we aim every child, regardless of caste, ethnicity, gender, attends and completes high school.
SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
Free, equitable and quality primary and secondary education is necessary for every child leading to better opportunities and growth.
Project Description
Child Sponsorship Facilitation Project is designed to end the gap between a needy child and his/her means to education. The project has been addressing children’s educational and physical needs, as well as supporting their emotional development and promoting their self-esteem and self-worth. VIN connects a generous sponsor and a deprived child from a poor financial background who would otherwise remain uneducated. The child receives educational supplies such as books, bags, stationaries, exercise books, tuition fees, uniforms etc. until they complete their high school. The Child Sponsorship Facilitation Project is an excellent opportunity for a child to shape their better future.
As of 2020, through the Child Sponsorship Facilitation Project, VIN has been able support 402 children from the marginalized communities of Nepal.
