Current Situation
- 4 out of 10 male youth are engaged in agriculture.
- 7 out of 10 female youth are engaged in agriculture.
- 5.5 million youth have migrated overseas for better jobs.
Youths are the pillars to development. However, the energy and enthusiasm of Youths in Nepal has not been channelized in the right direction.
Most of the young people in Nepal lack skill sets and vocational abilities to support their development. Skill mismatch or incompetency is yet another issue that has further aided into unemployment. Henceforth, in hopes of getting good jobs thousands of youth go abroad promoting brain drain. The remain indulge in low wage occupations or agriculture.
Project Goal
VIN aims to provide relevant life skill training for youth and enhance their potential. By 2030, we hope learning network between VIN and 300 youth of targeted communities will be established via youth clubs.
SDG 4: Ensure inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all.
It is necessary to increase the number of youth who have relevant skills, including technical and vocational skills for decent jobs. It is equally important to form Youth Clubs so that they have a place to share and learn together.
Project Description
Under Youth Club and Life Skills project, VIN has been actively working with and for youths in marginalized communities. We organise various trainings and workshop facilitating the needs of the young generation. Critical life skills such as team work, adaptability, problem solving, creativity, communication, decision making etc. are discussed in groups. Youth clubs are also formed so as to ensure an integrated development among the individuals. Through our program we provide periodic strengthening, such as club management training for the youth clubs themselves.
As of 2020, VIN’s Youth Club and Life Skills Project has been able to facilitate trainings and workshops for 1,348 youths in back warded communities of Nepal.
